Poetry: Write

Sometimes,
when you have nothing else to write
about,
but you go on and do it anyway,
it's like doing mental gymnastics;
because
if you really have nothing else to write
about,
you must write about the lack
of having anything to write about.
(Not quite the same as
not having anything to say.)

Then again,
you can write an awful lot
without meaning a damn thing,
but if you're true to your craft,
you must say something of meaning,
of beauty;
and it takes a brave soul
to see beauty in the void.
(But not as brave as
one who records it in words
that others may understand.)
